Viral Video Shows the Sad Truth of Heroin Addicts on the Street

Facebook user Courtland Garner recently live-streamed the aftermath of a couple using heroin on a street in Memphis.

In the video, the woman can be seen helplessly slumping over backwards while the man struggles to crawl. Authorities say the couple was seriously intoxicated with heroin, which they took at the bathroom of a nearby Walgreens. They were later revived and taken to a hospital.

See video below.

Garner hopes streaming this video live on Facebook will help young people reject drugs. In the video, he says, “What they were doing was children things. It was a spectacle. It made me laugh.” Garner says he is sure of the fact that a good number of kids in America are on social media and when they see the video, they will say “I don’t want to look stupid like that; I don’t want to do those drugs.”

Heroin is addictive. Garner seems to want to discourage people from ever trying it. He notes that if young people see the video, they will not want to do heroin and certainly other drugs because they will not want to act as foolish as the couple did.

Did you know an addiction can be caused by a mental disorder?

One of the primary reasons that mental disorders and substance abuse so often go hand-in-hand is that drugs and alcohol can provide an escape from the pressures of mental health problems. Self-medicating is surprisingly common: you’re not alone.

But unlike real, effective, long-term solutions, such as medication and detoxification in a treatment center, drugs and alcohol won’t amount to effective treatment.
